Introduction

Receiving your commission is an exciting and sometimes confusing time as you transition from college life to active duty Army. Everything you know or thought you knew from USMA or ROTC may not be enough for the journey ahead. If you’re lucky, you have had amazing cadre and mentors who can give you the low-down on what to expect or look out for. However most incoming cadets don’t have someone to turn to. Sometimes you feel uncomfortable burdening one person with all your mundane questions. Well fear no more, young grasshopper. This blog site will square you away. From housing to finances to where to get the best chicken and waffles for breakfast, this repository of everything BOLC, Infantry, Ranger School, and beyond will cover it.

Past experiences do not indicate reality in the future. This site is primarily based off of my own experiences at Fort Benning between the winter of 2016 and the summer of 2017. In a constantly changing Army, some minor details may not be true anymore, but for the most part the information you will find here remains extremely relevant. My mission is to provide a candid and honest account of my experiences and lessons learned at Fort Benning, in the hopes that it will benefit all incoming junior officers and prevent some of the same mistakes that I have made myself.
